Rosalind Freeman, Artist Information

Rosalind Freeman was born into a family of artists. Her father and mother both studied fine art
at the Royal College of Art and the Slade School respectively and went on to work as book
illustrators and fashion draughtsmen. Rosalind herself studied fine art at the Slade School in
the 1960s under William Coldstream and more particularly under Euan Uglow, Keith Vaughan and
Sam Carter.

“My new work derives, as always, from the sea and the edge of the land. The coast remains a constant,
but I am also returning to serial images and collected shapes like a contact sheet of repetitive forms,
each slightly different from the other. Some of the work is produced in situ, other pieces in the
studio. I want to keep it simple!”
