Artist Biography

Victor Pasmore was one of the mostinfluential British abstract artists of the 20th Century. His work hangs in the Tate Gallery, London, The Museum of Modern Art in New York and many of the World's most prestigious galleries.

Pasmore was a naturalistic painter in the tradition of Whistler and an associate of the Euston Road School. He had a substantial reputation in the British art world when in 1947 he made the shock announcement that he had converted to "total abstraction". He developed his unique talent through a series of styles, which led to his magnificent constructions utilising Perspex and wood.

In 1960 he moved to Malta and returned to painting with a new vigour. The majority of his prints were made after this period and reflect the colour and vibrancy of the Mediterranean.
