Artist Biography

Richart lives and works in Charbonnierre near Macon in the Rhone Valley of France. The main theme
of his work is 'duality of the individual', the left side of the brain deals with 'creativity and
spontaneity'whilst the right side is concerned with 'logic and order'. To visualise this Maire
produces two different representations in his work. He paints half an image with his left hand
to represent a free and spontaneous image and the remainder with his right hand to represent a
logical interpretation of the same image.

Curves and angles
Freedom and spontaneity of the line

That's my left hand.

Night / day
Chaos / order

Polarities achieved by the joint work of my two hands.

But beyond the divide,
Closer and closer to unity...
